Sgt Army Pants and Surgery

Sorry for my absence lately.  I got super busy last week and this week.  But finally I have a moment to sit down and blog.

Last week I was involved in a craft fair at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars).  It was all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  The first couple of days were slow and not many people came.  I was discouraged but kept coming in.  I was really hopeful that people would come and buy things!  Saturday was the busiest and I sold a good amount of things.

Then this week my hubby Sgt Army Pants had surgery.  While he was in Iraq he was bit by a spider a brown recluse they believe.  If you haven't heard of those icky spiders they have FLESH eating venom!  (yuck) It hasn't bothered him too much except for the past two years he gets an icky sore on his chest.  Sgt. finally went and had it checked out and they recommended surgery!  So on Tuesday we went in and he had some stuff removed from his chest.  Sorry for being so gross but this is life.  This really happened!!!!  I hope now he has a speedy recovery and this doesn't reoccur again!

Welcome to all my new followers!  You guys rock!!!  Thanks for thinking I am not too geeky!!!

DIY Earring Holder

It is my quest to try to organize.
You wouldn't be able to tell it by my house.
But I try very hard
My jewelry is the biggest mess.  I am either always missing an earring or can't find them so I give up and wear nothing.  I came up with this idea while browsing a local craft store.  It was fairly simple and took about a half hour to create!

Supplies:
Wooden picture frame
One sheet plastic canvas
Scrapbook paper
Scissors
Mod Podge
Paint
Paint brushes
Start by tracing an outline of your frame onto the back of your paper.  (that makes it much easier to mod podge later).  Then cut the paper out.
Next paint your frame in whatever color your heart pleases.
Put as many coats on as you like.  This is a judge free zone here.
After your paint is dry apply that Mod Podge!!!!
While you are waiting for you Mod Podge to dry take the plastic canvas and cut it down to size.  I like to be lazy and take the insert that came in the frame and use it as my guide.
Next all you have to do is secure it into the frame and look at you!!!  You just became a ROCKSTAR!!!  All your friends will want to be you!!!!  (sorry I am really hopped up on cold medicine)

Simple, easy, and CHEAP... my three good friends!

No time for sickness!

I guess it is my turn to be sick.
Which has come at an awesome time.
My hubby had drill all this weekend and I have been busy with the FRG which is a family support group.  Also we are raising money for our FRG and I have been getting ready for a craft fair we are having this up coming weekend.

Also my little boy Connor is having tubes put in his ears tomorrow.
So in reality I really don't have time to be sick.
But what can you do right?

I will have a super cool craft that is DIY coming up tomorrow!!!
That is if I can get the strength up to get it together!

Welcome to all my new followers!

I looked in my mailbox and what did I see...

Yesterday Spring cleaning struck my house.  I cleaned out not one but TWO junk drawers... ya we have two cause that's how we roll here.  I also reorganized all of our regular kitchen drawers too.  It took me all afternoon.  I was beat but so very proud of myself!

Then in the mail I got something magical, as if someone was patting me on the back.  Saying "Way to go Mandi, you pretty much rock"  Such a small envelope brought such a big smile on my face.
Big smiles ran across my face as I knew exactly what was inside this package.
Ahhhh yes, a lovely mustache necklace.  I giggled at what my husband was going to say. I promptly switched necklaces.
Here are some photos of myself and Mr. Moustache!

Pretty stinkin cute right????
You want one like right now don't ya????
Well head on over to Little Miss Momma's Etsy Shop and buy one!

Something that makes me smile...

My sweet little boy Connor....
He gets me to smile everytime!

(yes those are my shoes from yesterday...)

5% Goal

Yesterday was a very special day!
I made my 5% goal at WW!
I got this big sticker to put in my little blue book!
I never thought a sticker could feel soooooooo good!!!
At this point I don't know why I waited so long to join WW.
Maybe I thought that I wouldn't do very well.
Maybe I was scared that I would FAIL.
But this is results, and I am loving every minute of it!
I can eat real food!!!
I am learning how to eat better, instead of some fad diet.
I am in a better mood!
I went into a clothing store yesterday and for the first time in years I wasn't so frustrated to the point of tears!
It was nice to actually leave a fitting room and take something with me I was going to buy!

Half a Paycheck?

To all of congress,

I am an Army wife.  When I went to look at our paycheck today I see that we are only getting half of our normal pay.  I hope you sleep well tonight in your comfy house, your fantastic meal. Tuck your kids into their beds knowing you have provided for them.  For me I get to have a sick feeling worrying about how I am going to keep a roof over my kids head and food in their stomach.  I get to wonder how I am going to pay all my bills.

We volunteered to keep this country safe and protect what we so strongly believe in.  However instead of feeling the honor we normally feel, we feel betrayed, humiliated and like we have been slapped in the face.

I could live in a box, but I cannot do that to my kids.  It is them you are hurting.  Not yourselves...  Please just stop all this insanity and pass the budget.  You count on us to be ready for anything, to send our loved ones to war and worry that they might not come back.  YOU ask us to do what most people wouldn't consider.  WE count on YOU to do the right thing.

Sincerely,
An Army Family

Flowers made out of Scrap paper!

My husband is fantastic for our anniversary he gave me a gift card to Robert's so I could craft my heart out!  While there I saw a cute little topiary made of scrapbook paper.  I wasn't really feeling the topiary but thought they would make cute flowers to complete my Spring mantle.  I thought they were so cute I would share with you how I made them!

Supplies:
Styrofoam balls, I used 3 inch balls
Scrapbook paper, each ball took about two sheets
2 1/2 inch punch
Petal roller, just ask a lady at the craft store
glue and your glue gun

First punch all of your paper out with the 2 1/2 inch punch.  Until your hands hurt.  About halfway through this I thought to myself 'why didn't I use my Cricut?' Oh well I was committed to it at that point.
Next is to cut your circles into a spiral.

Take the outside edge of your spiral and curl it around the petal roller. Stopping at the end.  Make sure you don't rip the end off.
Release the paper and there is a cute little flower!

Glue onto your Styrofoam ball and repeat until the ball is full!
Last step is to put a painted wooden dowel into the flower and put them where ever your heart pleases!

A new love

I have never liked drinking water.
It is plain...
It is boring...
There is nothing exciting about it...
Poor water you are not my friend.

Now my diet Pepsi (such a rebel right?)
You are wonderful
But I need to give you up...
We need a clean break.
I promise it is me not you...
But don't worry we can still be friends.

While at my weekly WW meeting someone mention this new wonderful water enhancer.
You can imagine my excitement when I heard of a way to make water less boring.
It's name is MIO!!!
They have a bunch of different flavors.
My favorite right now is Sweet Tea.
I love sweet tea and it tastes so yummy in my plain old water.
In fact I have probably had at least 100 ounces of water today.
YAY FOR ME!!!
Boo for having to go to the bathroom about 50 times.
If you are looking for a way to get water in but tired of the plain taste.
I highly suggest trying it.
You won't be disappointed!!!

I have a fun tutorial to share tomorrow!!!
See you then!!!

Today is already a great day...

Today was the 4TH time weighing in for WW.
I was a little nervous to say the least.
Since last week I only lost half a pound...
So I got up out of my bed early in the morning...
Like 8 a.m. (Saturday is my sleep in day)
I got dressed and went on to my meeting hoping for a better week

I waited my turn, over hearing other members great success.
It got to my turn.
I took of my shoes, handed the lady my cards.
Then sheepishly asked if she was ready for me to get on the scale of doom.
I took a sigh and step on carefully so that the scale would think I was light.
Then the wonderful woman told me...
Down THREE POUNDS!!!!
I no lie I fist pumped in the air.

So today is already a good day.
Oh and Weight Watchers works.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
